The Show:

Award-winning improvisers, The Maydays, present Happily Never After: a dark and twisted musical tale inspired by the warped imaginations of film director Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice) and The Brothers Grimm.

Starting with your suggestion The Maydays take you to mysterious worlds, meeting the grotesque and the innocent, and weave a fantastical tale that's different every time.

Following sell-out shows at Edinburgh and Barcelona Festivals, the deliciously twisted and macabre Happily Never After is a word-of-mouth success that raises the bar on what’s possible with improvised theatre. With black comedy, dynamic physicality and skin prickling music, this will be a playful, creepy and delightfully dark experience.

"Happily Never After is hilarious. Catch it if you can!" - Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is It Anyway?)
"Surreal, original and hugely fun" ★★★★★ - The Latest
"Superb" - Fringe Review
"Mesmerising" ★★★★★ - Fringe Guru
"Impressive" - Chortle

The Maydays Cast

Cast: Liz Peters; Katy Schutte; Heather Urquhart; Rhiannon Viven; John Cremer; Joe Samuel.

What are your top three tips to be a good improviser?:

Connect: Listen to your partner with your ears, eyes and senses. Be here with them, not writing the story in your own head.

Accept: Treat their offers as though they are the best idea ever and add your own juice.

Follow the fun: The more fun you're having the more fun the audience will have (but avoid being in-jokey which excludes them.) So fly by the seat of your pants in whichever direction is most fun and commit to the ride!
