Norman the Dapper Rapper: Brexit Fallout Shelter
Norman the Dapper Rapper’s Brexit Fallout Shelter provides a safe space for both sides of the Brexit divide and beyond. Together we will explore the ‘Rapocalyptic’ World events unfolding around us. The show will mix Norman’s Spoken Word Rap Stylings with Improvisation involving members of the audience – yes that’s you...if you’d like to! There’s no doubt we live in ‘interesting times’ and Norman’s mission is both solemn and heartfelt: nothing less than to make Improvised Geopolitical, Satirical and Philosophical Rumination Great Again!
By far the best write up Nelson will ever receive was the one he got for the Improfessional’s show ‘Mission Improbable’ where he was described in one review as - ‘looking like Ernie Wise and sounding like Eric Morecambe.’
Norman the Dapper Rapper is the alter ego of Spoken Word comedian Nelson David. In the olden days Nelson took Improvised shows to Edinburgh with his group the Improfessionals and wrote satire for the likes of Spitting Image, Rory Bremner and BBC Radio 1. In the last decade he has been Improvising (he created Unexpected Human in Bagging Area), writing for the theatre and most recently has become a regular performer on London’s thriving Spoken Word circuit.
What are your top three tips to be a good improviser?:
Enjoy every moment – especially the bits that go ‘wrong’.
Say the first thing that comes into your head.
‘Keep it real’ as the young people used to say!
