Do Not Adjust Your Stage

From one audience suggestion we will create a brand new television network filled to the brim with the weirdest and wildest television programmes you could possibly imagine.

This is a brand new version of our TV format, which we've been performing just since October. Expect heart-breaking relationships, action-packed stories, and silly accents.

Do Not Adjust Your Stage create fun fast-paced story-based improv. We began life in late 2010 in London, many of us having already improvised together at Uni. Much of our improv is based around what you watch on the television, creating brand new television schedules based on audience suggestions. We perform regularly in London and further afield, including two runs at the Edinburgh Festival.

How did you discover improvisation?

Rhys: Youth theatre course as part of my bronze Duke of Edinburgh.

Shaun: Always discovering improv and that's what's great about it!

Helen: Watching Oxford Imps and the Improverts at the fringe in 2006.

Nick: As a baby, my first words were improvised, and I just went on from there.

What’s the most memorable improvisation you have seen or been part of in the last year?

Helen: Pajama Men in Edinburgh

Rhys: Crumbs

What are your top three impro tips?

Tim: 1. You're probably better than you think you are... Unless you're not (Tim)

Matt: 2. If in doubt do a funny voice until you think of something substantial to say (Matt Stevens)

Becca: 3. Relationships are the most interesting thing to watch.

Rhys: 4. Fuck the rules.

Recommend a book on improvisation ...

Tim: Not a book but a podcast: The Comedian's Comedian - Dr Brown episode.

Nick: I think we should probably do more reading.

Rhys: A tale of two improvisers...

Write you own question on improvisation and give an answer ...
“How do you spell Improv? ”

Nick: I-M-P-R-O-V

Anything else you'd like to add?

Nick: We loved doing Impro Fest UK last year and are looking forward to doing it again. We really hope that it inspires even more people to enjoy improv as much as we do!
